Yu Jean Choi creates hand-fabricated, one-of-a-kind pieces. She works in silver, gold, and gemstones that are carefully selected to support each design. Her jewelry combines architectural forms made of clean lines as sculpture. The surface texture, use of finish and patina, and selective use of contrasting colors make each of her pieces a striking gesture. Hers is a particular balance between the simplicity of abstract lines and the rough and organic complexity of the shape in the world. Each is a miniature sculpture, carrying the strength of the abstract line with the grace and chaos of the natural form.
