Romancing Asymmetry, new work by Monica Schmid

Working within set parameters and limitations has opened the door to unexpected results. I had boxes of collected beads, some purchased years ago, others kept to recycle, which I vowed to use for this project. I embarked on a mission to see where this new approach would lead. I commonly use metal as the main component, embellished here and there with a single stone. Switching from metal to color as the starting point was foreign and intimidating to say the least. But once I embraced my self-imposed limitations the colored stones and beads became my friends and led to the multifaceted wealth of asymmetry.
