Artist Statement
The Peg Panels in this exhibit were born from a great exploration of color theory and curiousity. I began experimenting with color using small repeated painted dots against a ground in acrylic on paper and canvas. These works were all 2 dimensional. After a time, I transformed the dots into 3 dimensional pegs and produced a color and optical experience for the viewer. As the viewer moves around the work, the colors and the color relationships change and grow more complex. The work is made of acrylic painted maple dowels that have been inlayed into hundreds of hand-drilled holes. All the work is acrylic on wood.
