Claudia Berman

I create antiquity inspired contemporary jewelry using classical metalsmithing techniques of fabrication and casting in sterling silver and high karat gold, with luscious stones and gems. Textures are a highlight of my work, inspired by the rough and natural designs in nature and unearthed treasures from long ago. I play with mixed metals and patinas to build unique colors, reminiscent of sunlight, shadows, erosion, and oxidation.

My metal work represents my love of landscapes in California, the luminous high Sierra mountain lakes, colorful blossoms on desert cacti, sunrise and sunsets over Death Valley, sunbeams, and moonlight reflected on lakes. These contrasts of color against sand, dirt, and rocks, are a source of endless beauty and inspiration.
