Ben is a jeweler and metals artist in Bloomington, IN. He graduated from Indiana University in May of 2019 with a BFA in Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design. He has supplemented his education through workshops at Arrowmont Craft School and an apprenticeship in Japan. Ben has exhibited his work internationally, in the United States, the Netherlands, Germany and Canada.
Currently, my work explores principles of Japanese design through material, form, and surface. Complex surfaces and patterns are contrasted with simple forms to create balance. Color, pattern, and texture are key elements in the conception of my jewelry. I integrate steel with precious metals, enamel, and gemstones to create wearable objects that are both inviting and contemplative.
