Gustav Reyes

Gustav thinks always: how can I honor the life of a tree, and the history of thoughtful woodworking, by using technological innovation? His art and craft has evolved throughout time at the the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, in woodworking studios, and within his own practice.

Gustav Reyes is a Chicagoan artist who is inspired most at the intersection of the natural world and human possibility. Reyes’ work may be found in the permanent collection at the Museum of Art + Design (NYC) and galleries throughout the world, including Patina Gallery (Santa Fe, NM), A Uno Tribeca (NYC) and Kapok (Hong Kong). His work has been shown widely, at Velvet Da Vinci (San Francisco, CA), the Society of Craft & Design (Boston, MA), The Bruce Museum (Greenwich, CT), and elsewhere. In 2014, Reyes has participated in such events as the American Craft Exposition, the 38th Annual Philadelphia Museum of Art Contemporary Craft Show, JOYA Art Jewellery Fair 2014 in Barcelona.
